The Pat Summitt Foundation Expresses Appreciation to SHEEX

The leadership of SHEEX, Inc., announced today the launch of a fundraising initiative to benefit The Pat Summitt Foundation. This new effort is aimed at generating additional income for the Foundation’s commitment to raise $2.5 million over five years for development of The Pat Summitt Alzheimer’s Clinic at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Foundation Executive Director Patrick Wade joins SHEEX Co-Founder/ Co-CEO Michelle Brooke-Marciniak in making the announcement.
Since the Clinic Campaign was announced, Michelle and her team at SHEEX have been working on developing their own initiative to join forces with The Pat Summitt Foundation to support the fundraising campaign for the Clinic. SHEEX is offering a Limited Edition Pat Summitt Foundation/SHEEX Performance Graphite Sheet Set and donating a portion of the proceeds to the Foundation.

“Michelle is one of the many Lady Vols who continue to support their Coach and this important work,” said Wade. “She has always volunteered her time and given personal financial resources, but she shared with us that she had it on her heart to find a way to do more through her company. We’re excited to have SHEEX joining forces to help Pat’s foundation and her mission to fight Alzheimer’s disease and support research to find a cure.”
The pilot project will be conducted in-store at a number of retail locations including Alumni Hall (Bristol, Knoxville and Murfreesboro), Orange Mountain Designs (Maryville), the University of Tennessee-Knoxville Medical Center Gift Shop, and on-line at the Foundation and SHEEX websites. The plan for the future is to expand the offer to more locations in order to support the Foundation on an on-going basis.
Brooke-Marciniak has served as a spokesperson for the Foundation and is joined on the advisory board by fellow former UT athletes Kara Lawson Barling and Peyton Manning who are Honorary Co-Chairs. Michelle starred at UT from 1993-96 leading the Lady Vols to two NCAA Final Fours (1995, 1996) and the 1996 National Championship while earning Final Four Most Outstanding Player honors.

“Pat Summitt is my coach, my mentor, my friend and is the winningest coach in NCAA Division I basketball history. I learned valuable life lessons from Pat while I was her point guard at the University of Tennessee, none more important than giving back,” said Brooke-Marciniak.
“Pat continues to face the toughest battle of her life, early-onset dementia, Alzheimer’s type. I could not think of a more suitable way to give back to my Coach than to help her Foundation with funding for The Pat Summitt Alzheimer’s Clinic. On behalf of the entire SHEEX® team, we are proud to join forces with The Pat Summitt Foundation, dedicated to winning the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.”
